Session overview:

Join us for the next instalment of our hand and wrist series. Earlier this month we talked about distal radius fractures and released our first ever surgical approach video where Ramon Tahmassebi talked us through the volar approach to the distal radius. Now our attention turns to the scaphoid.

Prof Joe Dias from Leicester will help navigate us through this challenging and contentious topic.

  • Does every patient need a CT to assess for displacement?
  • Does every patient need a CT to assess for displacement?
  • Can we still treat displaced fractures non-operatively?
  • Which fractures do we absolutely need to fix?
  • Can MRI really predict AVN?
  • Are vascularised grafts really necessary?
  • How can we best expose the scaphoid?
  • What are the tips and tricks for guide wire placement or graft harvest?

Prof Dias will be joined in this event by Mr Nick Riley from Oxford, Mr Raj Bhatia from Bristol and Miss Alice Bremner-Smith from London who will help demystify the topic as well as provide lively discussion (debate…) regarding how to treat these challenging injuries. Join us and tune in!
