Dr. Dacus is a Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery where he specializes in Orthopedic surgery and sub specializes in Hand and Upper Extremity. Moreover, Dr. Dacus completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Emory University School of Medicine, and after completing a fellowship in hand and upper extremity at the University of California, San Diego, Dr. Dacus entered the department in August of 2007. During his time here, his specialty has expanded exponentially, and gained expertise in joint replacement in the hand and elbow, reverse complete shoulder arthroplasty, and microvascular surgery of the hand and upper extremity.

Also, from 2011 to 2019, he was the Residency Program Director, after working as the Assistant Residency Director from 2009 to 2011. From 2009 to 2014, he was the Hand and Upper Extremity Division’s co-fellowship manager. In July 2019, he was appointed in the UVA Department of Orthopaedic Surgery as the Vice Chair for Diversity and Wellness.
