Hosts Charles A. Goldfarb, MD, FAOA and Emerging Leader, Alexander W. Aleem, MD, talk with Daniel B. Murrey, MD, MPP, FAOA, Chief Medical Officer for Surgical Care Affiliates and President, Optum Specialty Practices about his symposium for the Virtual AOA Annual Meeting, Can We Align Conflicting Agendas: Medical Education and Value-Based Care.

With the focus on performance-based contracts by Medicare, Medicaid, and other payors, value-based care is taking hold at varying rates across the United States. The training of residents and fellows is often in direct conflict with this direction. The expert panel addresses questions regarding balancing the conflicting agendas of medical education of residents and fellows and the move toward value-based care.

Special thanks to Peter Martin of Peter Martin Music, Inc (@iampetermartin) for the jazz introduction and conclusion.
