With the global COVID19 pandemic infecting more than 1.1 million people, healthcare systems around the world are under significant strain. Professional Bodies including thee British Orthopaedic Association, British Society of Children's Orthopaedic Surgery, International Hip Dysplasia Institute & Global Clubfoot Initiative have been providing updated guidance on how this will effect the normal workload and patterns of those within the orthopaedic profession and help encourage pragmatic decision making in resource-starved hospitals. With a focus on paediatric orthopaedics, Paedipods Podcast host Pranai Buddhdev speaks to Mr Anish Sanghrajka, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who sits on the educational committee of BSCOS and is the Deputy TPD of th East of England Rotation. We discuss the documents uploaded online (in the show notes), and how we can prepare to adjust our management of paediatric trauma, DDH, CTEV and other conditions, whilst embracing the adoption of telemedicine and novel techniques to train surgeons to help improve patient care through the pandemic.
