Professor Reinhard Graf is a world-renowned figure in the medical field, having invented and developed hip ultrasound for the diagnosis and assessment of DDH in babies. Hear about how he started off as a general practitioner and paediatric general surgeon prior to landing in the field of orthopaedics, and how almost through serendipity he developed hip ultrasound and convinced the world of its use. He explains how universal screening was adopted in countries such as Austria, Switzerland & Germany, and what restricts its global application, the development of the Graf Classification, the importance of education and standardisation of the skill and where the future lies involving artificial intelligence and machine-learning. His anecdotal style is humourous and brilliant - please enjoy and suscribe to our podcast on all major platforms.
